New J.K. Rowling book

I just purchased a book called Harry Potter The Tales of Beedle the Bard. It costs $12 but was on sale 40% off so Igot it for $7. It is 111 pages.

It is about the wizarding childrens stories mentioned in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The titles of the chidren's storie are, The Wisard and the Hopping Pot,The Fountain of Fair Fortune,The Warlock's Hairy Heart, Babbity Rabbity and Her Cackling Stump, and the most famous The Tale of Three Brothers.

Each story has commentary by Albus Dumbledore.

In this story, the main character goes by Tom Campbell, a 13 year old orphan. Tom has been in the orphanage since the age of 3. His only dream was to have a family and a dog of his own. Half of this dream is finally fulfilled when Tom is sent to Back o' the Moon Island to live with a fisherman and his wife to work. The couple go by Enoch and Fiona, and are very friendly. He is welcomed by a clean soothing room with a nice view of the ocean. On his first fishing trip with Enoch, a severe storm erupts, and on their way home, Tom finds a dog lost in the sea. They rescue the dog and Tom names it Thunder, from the thunder streak scar on his chest. This is probably where the book recieved its title, Thunder From The Sea by Joan Hiatt Harlow. He soon finds himself cherishing the dog. He takes care of the dog and the dog follows him everywhere he grows. Meanwhile, their neighbor's child, Bert, is making things difficult for Tom by bullying him constantly. Soon, Enoch's wife becomes pregnant, and Thunder's owner is identified. Tom is worried that with the new baby, the couple might not want him anymore, and he will lose his first dog. Thunder's owner comes, and Thunder has to choose his owner. Read this book to find out whether this book finishes off happily, or depressingly. This story will for sure change the way you think, and make you see things differently. Now, when I hear orphan, I remember how Tom feels about moving into a new place and how he falt like an outcast.

In Replay by Sharon Creech, Leo, a curious 12 year old boy, considers himself as a sardine, squeezed into a small can. This is because he lives with a big family and is hardly ever noticed by his talents. One of his brothers plays football, and one of his sisters plays soccer. He, on the other hand chooses to be in a play at school. Leo's chosen part was the Old Crone (Old woman) and he is not very pleased. Throughout the story line, Leo finds himself in ugly situations and imagines the situations afterwards, when he is always the hero. His imagination replays and he sees himself as a successful coach, a doctor, and even a movie star. When he finds his father's childhood belongings, he discovers unrevealed secrets about his family. Leo finds a journal, written by his father as a child, who is not always happy. He starts to develop the reason why his father was the way he was. When he tried to learn more about his past family, someone cried and fainted. After a while, his grandparents and father tell him about what happened back then. Leo also finds out that his father was much like him when he was a teen, doing plays and tapping. Read this book to find out how the play goes, what he does to help the family back together, and is finally noticed for his acting talent. I enjoyed reading this book because everything tied together in the end, and the authors unique style of writing this book in script form. :)

Language Arts class

We just finished reading A Christmas Carol in the 7th grade language arts class. It is five chapters long and written by Charles Dickens. It is about a grouchy man named Scrooge who is taught a lesson by a few spirits ands starts to live a better life after their encounter. I think Charles Dickens certainly lives up to his role as second to Shakespeare. The only part about the story that I had a problem with is that it was hard to understand at some times.

The Real Frank Zappa Book

The Real Frank Zappa Book is a book about Frank Zappa and written by Frank Zappa. It chronicles the life of Frank Zappa from birth, when he gets his band The Mothers Of Invention, and when he goes solo and has his own band. It is about 300 pages long and unfortunatly it cannot be found in the school library.

diary of a teenage girl:sold out

this book is about a christian girl in a band and God is mentioned alot so if that will bother you don't read this. it has 284 pages and it was written by Melody Carlson.so far i am only about on page 47 and the story is mostly about a teenage girl that has all the normal high school problems. her friends do drugs and shoplift and all she realy wants is for them to become Christian like her and lead better lives. of course, not all of her friends are bad. her band is very much Christian, but her friend Laura's pastor is trying to control the band and Chloe(the narrator) does not agree. if you like "girly realities" this would be a good book to read as long as the religous mentionings will not bother you.
